Pioneering Sustainability in Real Assets

The built environment significantly impacts global carbon emissions, contributing approximately 42% annually. Around two-thirds of this emanates from building operations, with the remaining portion attributed to the embodied carbon of key materials like cement, iron, steel, and aluminium.  It is clear achieving a 1.5C target necessitates profound changes in constructing, operating, and repurposing real assets, including real estate and infrastructure. These changes present fantastic opportunities for both ESG impact and investment returns.

We are delighted to welcome Anne Foster, Global Head of Sustainability and Impact at Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, and Valeria Falcone, Head of Value-Add Investing, Real Estate Europe at BaringsThey will explore how their organisations’ pioneering efforts towards net-zero targets in asset underwriting and management are delivering real change in the built environment.

We’ll delve into how social factors such as pollution, water usage, and employment and job security contribute to the broader sustainability discourse.

We also welcome Aoifinn Devitt, CIO of London CIV LGPS Pool and Simon Jones, Head of Responsible Investment at Hymans Robertson to broadent the debate and understand the role consultants and asset owners have to promote change.
